Internet search giant, Google Inc., has integrated video VoIP functionality with its Gmail web mail service, making it possible for users to speak with friends live, via video, directly from their email inbox.
In order to operate, the video chat application requires a web cam, as well as a small software plug-in. It opens in a separate ‘Google Chat’ box, which can be moved around the screen, or expanded to full-screen size.
“The idea was to make it quicker and easier to communicate with other people by whatever means is best convenient,” explained Jason Freidenfelds, a Google Spokesman. “It’s a nice alternative for businesses looking for another way for people to connect.”
