MegaPath gets Cisco Powered designations

Saturday, April 4, 2009

MegaPath’s Managed IP trunking and MPLS VPN products have been awarded the Cisco Powered Managed Service designation.

MegaPath relies on Cisco’s high-performance routing equipment to deliver managed services that enable businesses to consolidate all applications onto a single private network. Leveraging Cisco, the MegaPath Site-to-Site MPLS VPN and Duet SIP Trunking Voice over IP (VoIP) services provide high-value offerings to businesses of all sizes.

“Our Cisco Powered designations provide MegaPath customers with the confidence that we have the expertise to support their most critical communications,” said Beth Tyebjee, Senior Vice President of Marketing at MegaPath. “MegaPath’s leading MPLS VPN and Voice over IP services are known for delivering reliable and secure data and voice communications.”

By achieving the Cisco Powered designation, MegaPath has proven the ability to combine Cisco solutions with its services to create and deliver high-value Managed Service offerings.

MegaPath’s inclusion in the Cisco Powered program highlights the company’s ability to provide reliable connectivity to, between, and across their customers’ locations. In addition, it signifies MegaPath’s commitment to maintaining a consistent and high-level Quality of Service (QoS) by prioritizing performance-sensitive and business-critical applications for optimal delivery of data. Specifically, MegaPath has achieved Cisco Powered Managed Connectivity designations in the following areas:

  • Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) virtual private network (VPN) service provides private IP networks with high-quality, high-security, and any-to-any connectivity. The service is based on the Cisco IP NGN architecture, MPLS and Cisco Design and Implementation Guides. The service delivers appropriate levels of latency, jitter and packet loss to help ensure the successful concurrent handling of multiple types of traffic, especially voice and video, from customer site to customer site.
  • IP Trunking service is a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based trunk from the service provider to an IP private branch exchange (PBX) or key system, delivering voice, multimedia and data traffic. The service provider provides basic connectivity, emergency services, dial-plan management and operator services. Local and long-distance call connections are completed by the service provider. A managed IP Trunking service includes the IP termination service and features a PBX with a gateway, an integrated access device (IAD) or an IP PBX.

“Adopting managed services allows companies to align IT and business goals, enabling them to focus scarce internal resources on their core competencies while servicing day-to-day IT infrastructure and operational needs through technology delivered as a service,” said Jeff Spagnola, Vice President of Worldwide Managed Services at Cisco. “By achieving Cisco Powered designations, MegaPath has made an investment in obtaining the training, skills and knowledge necessary to play a pivotal role in meeting this increasing demand.”

Cisco Powered Managed Service designation requirements are based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library® (ITIL) framework of best practices as well as market and industry requirements. MegaPath participated in an assessment of its network operation center as a part of the Managed Service Channel Program process.

Cisco recommends services that are designated Cisco Powered because they are designed to deliver a high-quality, customizable service experience, making it easier for businesses to make the right decision when purchasing technology as a service.
